Season Restaurant, Noosa

Noosa’s much acclaimed Season restaurant expresses everything that people love about Queensland’s Sunshine Coast – lovely fresh food served in a stylish but relaxed setting, framed by a stunning view of the ocean.

Located midway along Hastings Street, Noosa’s trendy shopping strip, the restaurant overlooks Main Beach. When the weather is good (as it usually is), the plastic screens are rolled up and you can look straight out over the crystal waters of Laguna Bay. It is absolute beachfront – just a few steps from the entrance, you can feel the sand between yours toes.

Appetiser of crispy whitebait.

The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, and if you time your visit right, you might be lucky enough to score one of the oceanfront tables.

Needless to say, it is also a popular spot for weddings and functions.

The menu changes regularly to reflect the produce that is in season, including locally caught fish and the fruit and vegetables that grow in abundance in this verdant region.

We started with an appetiser of crispy whitebait, a perennial favourite, served in a cute little deep-fryer basket.

We also enjoyed a shared antipasto platter of warm seafood including a couple each of Hervey bay scallops with chorizo, Mooloolaba prawns with smoked garlic and parsley, salt and pepper squid, and oysters, one with a tempura batter, one au naturel.

Mains were a hard choice but we did what we usually do and swapped plates halfway through so we could each try the Pork belly with Moreton Bay bug tail, baby purple carrots, sprouts and cider crème fraiche; and the Ocean trout with scallops, lemon olive oil mash, asparagus, crispy baby kale and little pearls of salmon roe on top.

A ‘Little Treat’ of lemon curd with fairy floss and icecream.

One feature of the Season menu that I particularly love is “Little Treat” where you can get a tea or coffee plus a sweet morsel for $11, a nice option when there’s no room for dessert. In fact, the Little Treat was bigger than expected, because although the lemon curd tart was very dainty, it came with a topping of fairy floss and icecream on the side.

Noosa punches far beyond its weight with an abundance of fine restaurants, but little wonder diners keep coming back to this popular spot.
