It’d be hard to think of a better way to spend a weekend than indulging in Champagne. And on the weekend of August 11 to 13, there’s an opportunity to do just that. That’s when Australia’s only festival dedicated solely to champagne, Effervescence Champagne Festival, takes place at Spicers Hidden Vale, an hour’s drive from Brisbane.

The Festival has two- and three-night VIP packages with accommodation options, masterclasses, long lunches, dinners and champagne breakfasts. There is also a Champagne Trail on the Sunday for members of the public who simply want to taste fine bubbles.

“With tasting stations from more than 25 houses, including well-known famous and boutique grower houses – and more than 60 cuvees, Effervescence offers the opportunity to taste, learn and most of all, enjoy Champagne,” said Festival creator Amanda Reboul.

Reboul, aka the Bubble Diva, said the festival would allow participants to enjoy a virtual visit to the Champagne region in France.

Visitors will be able to enjoy tasting from prominent and lesser known houses of Champagne while enjoying live cooking shows, food, live music and the opportunity to learn the art of sabrage under Reboul’s tutelage.

Now in its second year in Queensland, the festival brings a certain je ne sais quoi to Queensland. “There’s really something for everyone, dependant on how much Champagne they want to indulge in over the weekend,” Mrs Reboul said.

There is no need for designated drivers either, with the option of booking a bus from Brisbane, Gold Coast or Toowoomba in the ticket sale.

This year, Effervescence Festival welcomes partners and sponsors Xennox Diamonds, Craft Wine Store and KDPR, giving VIP package guests the opportunity of winning a $5,000 diamond/diamond ring. Weekend guests will receive a ‘diamond’ on their pillow and have the opportunity to have it valued, determining whether they received a cubic zirconia or a real diamond. With only 20 couples in the running, the odds are high. Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?
