Mantra Richmont Spring Hill, Qld

Mantra Richmont Spring Hill Reception Desk

One of the most appealing features of the Mantra Richmont Hotel is that it’s just a short walk from all the hustle and bustle of Brisbane’s CBD, yet it has a ‘get away from it all’, almost-boutique feel. The hotel opened late last year in Kennigo Street, Spring Hill, and is one of many newcomers to Brisbane’s burgeoning accommodation scene.

There seems to be no end to funky, trendy hotels being built in and around the city, driven by demand not just from leisure and events travellers, but even more so from business travellers. The 110-room Mantra Richmont is ideally suited to corporate travellers with its 24-hour reception desk, business and conferencing facilities, and convenient location on the city’s fringe.

The hotel is managed by the Mantra Group, Australia’s second largest accommodation operator, with 125 properties under three brands – Peppers, Mantra and BreakFree. The hotel is newly built but linked by walkway to a gorgeous old Queenslander that has been transformed into Kennigo Social House. We’ve written about this restaurant in a separate post, but in short, it does fantastic breakfast dishes and has a great lunch and dinner menu, so you won’t need to go far for a good meal.

The heritage building, once a boarding house for “respectable gentlemen”, sits comfortably alongside the hotel, which welcomes guests with a living green wall and “grab & go” café in the lobby. There is secure underground car parking ($20 for 24 hours) and a gym, but no pool.

We had a very comfortable stay in a Superior room with a private balcony offering city views, super comfortable queen-size bed, lovely big bathroom, Vittoria coffee machine and tea making facilities. All rooms are air-conditioned with LCD TV and iPod docking facilities.

The hotel also makes a great spot for a staycation, as you can easily walk into Chinatown and Fortitude Valley for shopping and dining, or wander down to the CBD in just a few minutes. Parking is $20 for 24 hours.
