Domaine Chandon Pinot Noir Rosé

Domaine Chandon 2014 Pinot Noir Rosé, $19.95

We’ve recently returned from France where we enjoyed many a Rosé during the surprisingly balmy autumn weather. Around 29% of wine consumed in France in 2013 was Rosé and the figure is growing. Dan Buckle, senior winemaker at Yarra Valley winery Domaine Chandon, is keen to see Aussies embrace it with the same enthusiasm. Given the easy-drinking appeal of the Domaine Chandon 2014 Pinot Noir Rosé, it shouldn’t be difficult to convince us. It’s a fairly robust wine as far as Rosé goes, with a vibrant pink colour and bright, juicy fruit. The winery recommends it with smoked eggplant dip; we enjoyed it with ocean trout, roasted kipfler potatoes and asparagus with balsamic and feta. To me, Rosé is a perfect match with salmon and ocean trout, and the proof was in the glass.
