Lark Hill 2016 Pinot Noir, $45
With more than 30 years of production behind it, this leading Canberra District producer not only has a wealth of knowledge and experience but also the benefit of mature, well-established vines. Even in the early days, its Pinot was impressive but with all the work that owners, the Carpenter family, have done in the vineyard, it just keeps getting better and better. Today, the vineyard is certified biodynamic, a huge commitment that requires an enormous amount of work to produce beautiful, chemical-free fruit. The addition of another Pinot clone to their original plantings has lent suppleness and generosity, resulting in a robust, earthy wine that is fragrant and pure. Think strawberries on your forest floor. Enjoy it with rich seafood such as salmon or with charcuterie or game. It’s available through the Lark Hill website or at selected restaurants in Canberra, Sydney and Melbourne.
