Yalumba 2017 Barossa Shiraz, $28

How do you like your reds? Big and brooding with an air of mystery, or soft and easy drinking? This Shiraz in Yalumba’s new Samuel’s Collection probably falls into the first description, being deep and full-bodied with rich aromatics of licorice and anise. Having said that, it is also very approachable and moreish with smooth flavours and subtle oak. Yalumba has a 170-year-old winemaking history and is still family owned. It is wines like this that have led to its remarkable place on the Australian winemaking stage.
