Richard Hamilton 2018 Watervale Riesling, $20
With all the warm weather we’ve been having, we’ve been eating a lot of fish, and what a perfect match this Clare Valley Riesling has been. We love it! Its zesty lime and lemon nuances picked up all the lemon flavours of our grilled fish, reminding us what an Australian summer is all about. This is the third Riesling that Richard Hamilton has sourced from Watervale – a sub-region of the Clare renowned for its fine, dry Riesling – and we hope there will be many more to come. It has a purity about it that makes it slip down a treat while young and fresh, but if you do want to cellar it, you’ll likely be rewarded with a lovely toasty complexity after a few years.
