Morris Classic Liqueur Muscat, $20
This could well be the best Christmas bargain you can find. Rutherglen Muscat is an absolute treasure, as is Morris Wines, which boasts more than 150 years of winemaking. Taste it with your Christmas cake or plum pudding and I guarantee it will knock your socks off. To think that some stores are selling it for $20 or less, well … you need to rush out now and grab some for the Christmas table. It has intense raisin fruit characters, just as you’d expect from a Rutherglen muscat, and is soft and sweet with some lovely characters of nuts and spices. It’d go beautifully with panforte, chocolate and even some strong cheeses. Sipping on a glass of this reminds me that I’m living in the lucky country.
