Just 35 minutes north of Melbourne and only around 15 minutes from Melbourne Airport, Marnong Estate is an all-round visitor experience with luxury accommodation overlooking the vines, a cellar door and restaurant, and a working farm with roaming Angus cattle and alpacas.
Situated in the heart of Victoria’s Sunbury wine region, it sounds utterly delightful. But if you don’t have an opportunity to visit just yet, you might at least let some of the magic rub off on you by tasting some of their wines.
The winery recently unveiled a collection of wines that are perfect for summer entertaining. Light and lively, they are expressive of the Sunbury terroir —cooling winds and mineral-rich soils that bring a refreshing vibrancy and complexity to the wines.
Included in the collection are a 2024 Single Vineyard Chardonnay, 2024 Single Vineyard Fiano, 2022 Blanc de Blancs, 2025 Estate Chardonnay, 2025 Estate Pinot Grigio and 2025 Estate Rosé.
We’ve tasted three of the new releases — the Fiano, Rosé and Blanc de Blancs — and found them just so incredibly easy to drink. Fresh and aromatic, they would work equally well for summer quaffing and for celebratory moments. They also pair easily with a wide range of dishes. Our tasting notes are below.
The winery specialises in cool-climate pinot noir, chardonnay, shiraz and sangiovese, alongside a range of Italian varieties. It currently produces 16 wines, spread across three ranges – from the ever-so-easy to drink Estate range to the refined Single Vineyard collection, through to luxurious Reserve options – ensuring there is a style for every summer occasion. More wines are being added to the portfolio as new vineyard plantings mature.

The wines can be tasted at the Marnong Estate cellar door, where you can also dine in the signature Italian restaurant, La Vètta, relax in the family-friendly Cucina 3064, enjoy coffee with a view at Caffè Vista, or stay in the architecturally designed lodgings.
Marnong Estate 2024 Single Vineyard Fiano, RRP $35: A gold-medal winner at the Queensland Royal Wine Show and a successor to the 2023 Fiano which won a gold medal at the 2024 Alternative Varieties Wine Show. Bright and zesty, it is medium-bodied and textural with grapefruit aromas, citrus and honey flavours, and hints of spice and mineral notes. Pop it in your picnic basket or enjoy at other outdoor occasions.
Marnong Estate 2025 Estate Rosé, RRP $25: This is a light and delicate, dry Rosé, just the way we like it. Yet it lacks nothing in personality, being exuberantly aromatic — think strawberries and cream and other treats. With cherry and watermelon flavours and a touch of herbaceousness, it’s a lovely wine that we’d be happy to drink anytime, anywhere.
Marnong Estate 2022 Blanc de Blancs, RRP $80: That’s a big price tag for Aussie bubbles so on that score alone you’d probably only want to pop the cork on this one for a very special occasion. But a lot of work goes into producing a fine sparkling in the traditional method and the result here is a very smart wine, perfect for an occasion where you want to impress. It tantalises with toast and brioche notes dancing around flavours of green apple, lemon and honey. Crisp and elegant with a delicious complexity from three years of ageing on lees.
Marnong Estate’s latest vintage wines are available nationally from independent retailers, at the Marnong Estate cellar door, and online via the Marnong Estate website.
