Canine friends are welcome at American Express Openair Cinemas, now open in Canberra. The movies are being screened on the Patrick White Lawn in front of the National Library. The season continues until February 17. The festival of food, fun and flicks is in full swing every evening (with the exception of Australia Day) with an array of alternative entertainment, live music and DJ performances before the films light up the big screen.
A variety of seating options are available, and a blanket or lounger can be hired as part of any ticket package. Premium tickets to the Prime Video Lounge include reserved seating on a comfy bean bag, service and a glass of wine.
American Express card members receive a range of benefits, including 15% off selected tickets and access to the American Express Garden to enjoy sunset drinks. Card members will get comfortable with their own bean bag, a cushion and complimentary blanket hire as well as some tasty treats. They can get the full VIP cinema experience by buying a ticket to the American Express Lounge.
Movie goers are invited to bring their dogs to any screening (being mindful of films with expected gunfire and explosions). This year’s program is a mix of box office hits and new releases including A Star is Born, Aquaman, Bumblebee and Vice. Boy Erased screens on January 15, The Children Act on January 16 and The Hate U Give on January 30. Families can choose from new releases such as The Grinch, Mary Poppins Returns, Disney’s The Nutcracker and Instant Family.
Haagen Dazs icecreams are available, while drinks for sale include 4 Pines craft beer, Pimms, Giesen Wines and Black Devil Cider. Canberra is one of 12 stops on the Openair Cinemas tour, with Auckland and Christchurch included in the program, along with Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
Tickets start at $14 and are on sale at www.openaircinemas.com.au, where you can also download the full program.
Thanks for sharing this; I hadn’t seen any advertising for it and was wondering what was screening!
