The Calabria Family’s Bélena range of wines come in such gorgeous bottles that I guarantee you will find it hard to part with the empties. For a range that sits around the $20 mark, it’s remarkable that the wines come in such beautiful packaging. And it’s not all about looks – the wines have a lovely fresh appeal, especially the Rosé which reminds me of some of the Rosés from Provence.
The range expanded earlier this year with the addition of a Prosecco, which like others in the range is stylish and beautifully packaged, making it perfect for celebratory occasions. The bottles can even be personalized if you wish. The offer of personalized labels is available exclusively through the Calabria Family Wines website.
Calabria introduced the Bélena range in 2021, the brand name paying homage to Bill and Lena Calabria, the second generation of the family business. The bespoke design quickly captured the attention of consumers and retailers, catapulting the brand to become the second fastest growing wine brand in the Australian market.
Bélena Prosecco is crisp and refreshing with aromas of green apple and citrus, and subtle notes of passionfruit and lemongrass. Its flavours of crunchy apples and lemon zest make it perfect for pairing with a seafood platter or lobster roll, or alternatively it can be enjoyed as an aperitif (or anytime really!)
Bélena Rosé is simply a joy to drink, refreshing and light with a pale pink colour and attractive floral notes.
Bélena Sangiovese is also impressive with generous notes of spicy dark cherries and dried herbs. It is medium-bodied and approachable, a wine to drink now and which pairs well with a wide range of foods.
The Calabria Family Wines story began in 1945 with founders Francesco and Elisabetta Calabria. More than seven decades later, the third generation proudly carry on their work, with cellar doors in both the Riverina and the Barossa Valley.
Bélena wines are available at retailers such as Dan Murphy’s and Liquorland, and through the Calabria Family Wines website.
